Frequently asked questions

What packaging do I need for Royal Mail?

Match your box or mailer to the Royal Mail format you are posting. Large Letter allows up to 353 x 250 x 25mm and 750g, and Small Parcel up to 450 x 350 x 160mm and 2kg. Choose a box sized to your format, then add void fill or a padded mailer to protect the contents.

What is a PiP (Pricing in Proportion) box?

PiP boxes are sized to Royal Mail's Pricing in Proportion bands. A Large Letter PiP box is designed to stay within the 25mm thickness limit so your item qualifies for the cheaper Large Letter rate rather than being charged at the Small Parcel rate.

What is the difference between single wall and double wall boxes?

Single wall boxes have one layer of fluting and suit light to medium items and everyday postal use. Double wall boxes have two layers for extra strength, so they are better for heavy, fragile or valuable items, for stacking, and for longer journeys.

What void fill should I use?

Void fill stops items moving inside the box. Bubble wrap and air cushions are light and protective, while shredded paper and paper void fill are recyclable, plastic-free options. Fill any gaps so the contents cannot shift in transit.

Do you sell eco-friendly or plastic-free packaging?

Yes. We stock paper mailing bags, paper-padded envelopes, kraft paper tape, sugar cane mailing bags and recyclable shredded paper as plastic-free alternatives to traditional packaging.

What size box should I choose?

Pick a box slightly larger than your item, leaving room for a few centimetres of void fill on each side. Keeping the box as small as the contents safely allow helps you stay in a lower Royal Mail format and reduce your postage.

Which packaging tape is best?

48mm polypropylene or vinyl tape gives a strong, fast seal for most boxes. For a recyclable finish, self-adhesive paper kraft tape can be recycled along with the cardboard box. Warning-printed tape is useful for fragile or this-way-up parcels.

Do you supply packaging for businesses and in bulk?

Yes. Most of our packaging is available in trade pack quantities for offices, warehouses and e-commerce sellers, and we offer ready-made packaging kits so you can get started with everything you need.

How fast is delivery?

Standard UK delivery is 3-5 working days and free on orders over £40, with a next working day option available.
